SharePoint Embedded offers an API-only pattern for building content apps that integrate management capabilities like collaboration, security, and compliance into any app by storing content within an enterprise’s existing Microsoft 365 tenant. It was originally introduced in May 2023 as Syntex Repository Services and referred to as Repository as a Service (RaaS) or SharePoint’s headless APIs. In November 2023, Microsoft announced the public preview and renamed it to SharePoint Embedded.
